We are excited to announce that applications for creating a crowdfunding campaign are now open!
Please share this announcement as widely as possible so that we can support student initiatives throughout the year.
If you have an idea for crowdfunding, we want to support you!
Here’s a great example of a campaign that was fully funded last year.
Upon submission of an application, your projects and campaigns are eligible to be featured in our two biggest fundraising campaigns of the year, Giving Tuesday on December 2, and SMU Giving Days in the spring of 2026.
Read the instructions below to apply and remember: no project is too small!

- Content Development
- Editing Advice
- Distribution across SMU Channels for Giving Tuesday
Student cohorts, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends are all welcome to develop a crowdfunding campaign that:
- Establishes a current-use or endowed scholarship
- Supports a mission-driven community project
- Fundraises to off-set academic expenses
- Creates a birthday or celebratory campaign
- Encourages the community to contribute existing initiatives, like the SMU Student Emergency Fund
Fall Schedule for Giving Tuesday Campaign:
October 15, 2025 – Content Submissions Deadline
Submit content for review, post-production editing advice, and scheduling for official comms.
November 3, 2025 – First Day of Content Distribution
Crowdfunding content will be distributed across official SMU social media channels and community newsletters throughout the month of November.
December 2, 2025 – Final Day of Content Distribution
** Whenever possible, submitted applications will receive structured support from SMU staff and be featured as part of the SMU Giving Tuesday Campaign in November and the SMU Giving Days Campaign in the spring of 2026.
