The Call to Give

SMU DPT 2024

“Community Kitchens is the perfect local resource for us to partner with on Giving Tuesday! They provide hot, restaurant quality meals to our unhoused neighbors while supporting local businesses. All of their meals are prepared in restaurants throughout Oakland which truly celebrates the spirit of community. Please make a donation today so we can support their mission in caring for some of Oakland's most vulnerable.”

Class of 2024, White Coat Ceremony

Hello! We are the Samuel Merritt DPT class of 2024! Please help us in reaching our goal of $400 to help feed those in need during this Winter season. This year, we have partnered with Community Kitchens to help feed those who need it most. Community Kitchens is Oakland based and works with local restaurants to feed the unhoused, shut-in seniors, and others who are without other means to find at least one meal every day. We will be using funds raised to buy meals, packaging and volunteer supplies, and items needed to support meal deliveries for Community Kitchens. We appreciate any donations and hope you have a wonderful end to the year! #diningforjustice

Our goal is to raise $400 as we team up with Community Kitchen's mission: “We bring together over 50 local restaurants and 10 community groups to prepare and distribute meals to our unhoused, at-risk youth, and shut in or low-income seniors every day. Our meals are distributed by a network of community organizations who use our meals as a trust-building tool that helps them connect marginalized communities with needed services and support.”

Food Justice Initiative: “Our food justice includes the quality of the meal, accessibility for the recipient and sustainable funding through our Dining For Justice initiative”

Please help us in reaching our goal of $400 to help feed those in need during this Winter season.
